Barred walls are unique compared to other walls as they use metal bars instead of materials like bricks or concrete. It is similar to the various fence types in function, but must be placed on top of a foundation to create new areas or rooms in the prison complex.
Guards and CCTV-cameras can see though barred walls, and it is possible for guards to fire weapons such as tasers and shotguns though them. This makes it easier to engage misbehaving inmates without directly confronting them, resulting in fewer casualties.
