Shakedown is an emergency command that initiates a mass-search for contraband across an entire facility. Guards will search:

  • Prisoners
  • Cells - and toilets outside of cells.
  • All packaged objects, e.g. objects in storage, food trays, workshop resources, deliveries, exports,

A large banner across the top of the screen will display all the contraband found during the shakedown. Prisoners in possession of contraband will be punished according to your prison policy.

Evidently, prisoners dislike shakedowns and will be disgruntled by unwarranted searches of either their person or property. Shakedowns should therefore be infrequent as too many will undeniably raise the danger level of the prison.

NOTE: Only standard guards will conduct searches during a shakedown. All other security staff members, e.g. Armed Guards and Dog Handlers will continue with their duties. Make sure to do a Shakedown every couple of nights or after mass escapes or riots.

Escape Tunnels[]

The chance that a prisoner's escape tunnel will be revealed by a shakedown is small. It is assumed that this is due to the inconsistency of every search. An individual search of a single toilet will be highly efficient and will almost certainly reveal any escape tunnels underneath. Dismantling a toilet will undeniably reveal a tunnel.
