A solar wind hybrid is an electricity generator that harnesses both the power of wind and the sun. They can be connected to multiple green power power sources, but their power must first flow through a Transformer before it can be used within your prison.
This item must be unlocked by completing the Green Energy Goal 2 grant.
Each hybrid generates 250 unit of power from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 100 unit of power during the night, assuming weather is not enabled.
In comparision a Power Station generates 50 units Capacitor output 50 units and Capacitor Max is 100 units)
This works out to exactly 187.50$/day of profit from energy export via Power Export Meter ((250 units * 14h + 100 units * 10h) * (500$/12000 units*h)), or 375$ per day if the Green Energy Goal 9 grant has been completed. That means a Solar Wind Hybrid will pay for itself after 27 days (14 days with the grant).
A maximum of 128 green energy sources (solar wind hybrids, Solar Panels or Wind Turbines) can be placed in a single prison.
Strategy[]
- When the energy output from a hybrid is doubled, for example by completing the Green Energy Goal 9, it is possible to make an easy (though small) profit by taking a loan and investing all the money into solar-wind hybrids.
- A PowerStation with 16 Capacitors costs $21,000 and generates 850 units of power (Equilivant to 5 Solar Hybrids which would cost $25,000 (plus $1,000 for transformer and £6,000 for the 12 batteries) - but you can get much bigger grids with green energy.
- A Power Station with 16 Capacitor Max Plus costs $37,000 and generates 1750 units of power (Equilivant to 9 Solar Hybrids which would cost $45,000 (plus $1,000 for transformer and $6,000 for the 12 batteries) - but you can get much bigger grids with green energy.
